The Cripple Creek/Victor & Southern Teller County area offer a long list of things to do for young and old.
Florissant Fossil Beds: Located on Teller # 1 about six miles from the Lost Burro. While at the Fossil Beds one can hike among the Ponderosa Pine forest and see the areas many fossilized trees, or just relax and observe the local nature.
Cripple Creek: Is located about 4 miles from the Lost Burro. Cripple Creek is Colorado's most famous gold mining town. Some activities include dining and gambling. While in Cripple Creek visit the areas old mines.
Mollie Kathleen Mine: Take a ride down a mine shaft in a turn of the century mine elevator and enjoy a narrated tour 1 mile below the earth.
Victor: On HWY # 67 is located about 6 miles S.W. of Cripple Creek. Victor has some of Colorado's finest scenery. While in Victor take some time to visit some of the old mine Shafts and local shops. Hiking trails, interpretive sites. American Eagles Scenic Overlook.
Divide and Woodland Park: On Hwy 24 take some time to visit Divide and Woodland Park these old towns are small and have that beautiful mountain town feeling with many nice restaurants and shops to visit.
Pikes Peak: A short drive down the Ute Pass to Cascade you can take a trip up the worlds most famous mountain and Visit Pikes Peak at 14,114 ft of elevation. From atop of Pikes Peak one can get a birds eye view of the Pikes Peak region the view is spectacular.
Pikes Peak Cog Railway: If you don't care to drive the Pikes Peak Hwy, you can take the Train. The train can be reached from Ruxton Ave. in Manitou the train provides a beautiful 3 1/2 hour round trip to the top of the mountain in the comfort and safety of a well maintained cog train. The scenery from the train is just incredible!
Manitou Springs: After getting off the train visit the historical Manitou Springs at the foot of Pikes Peak again as with the other mountain towns there are many terrific shops and restaurants which allow you to soak up the local atmosphere of a mountain community. While in Manitou stop and visit one of Manitou's famous outdoor Natural Springs and taste the water that the Ute Indians have enjoyed for centuries.
Eleven Mile Reservoir: Is one of Colorado's finest spots for fishing and boating. Eleven Mile reservoir boasts some of the best fishing available in Colorado. While visiting the park, you may also want to hike one of the many nature trails which overlook the South Park region.
Mueller State Park: Is a half hour drive from the campground. Mueller State Park has some of Colorado's finest hiking, sight seeing and wildlife. Take a days hike through one of Mueller's nature trails and you won't believe your eyes. On any given day its common to view nature at its finest Deer, Elk, Big Horn Sheep and Bears are common in this park.
